The daughter of the Lord of Ning’an City, Bai Shuo, was abducted by a demon along with her elder sister, Bai Xi, when they were children. In a moment of crisis, the god of demons, Jing Yuan, descended from the heavens and rescued them. Young Bai Shuo vowed to cultivate immortality as a token of gratitude, but upon waking, she could not remember her savior’s appearance. For the past ten years, Bai Shuo has remained steadfast in her pursuit of immortality. By chance, she learns from Master Sun that the master of the Unfettered Tower is known as the "Immortal Envoy." She gathers treasures and wealth to seek an audience with him, unaware that his true identity is Fan Yue, the Demon King of the Extreme Domain and the Lord of Haoyue Hall. Fan Yue has come to this place to activate the ancient divine artifact, the Wunian Stone. Bai Shuo and Fan Yue engage in a subtle game of probing and testing each other. During an accidental moment of physical contact, the Wunian Stone unexpectedly lights up. Bai Shuo is then taken away by her father, Bai Xun, with a promise to continue their conversation another day. Bai Xun punishes Bai Shuo, but she remains resolute in her dream of cultivating immortality, which infuriates him. At the Lanling Immortal Sect’s gathering, the immortals are enraged upon hearing about the theft of the Wunian Stone. Meanwhile, at the Unfettered Tower, Fan Yue and his subordinates, Tianhuo and Cangshan, discuss the situation. They realize that only Bai Shuo can trigger a reaction from the Wunian Stone and decide to keep her under surveillance. Elsewhere, the demon clan’s Cold Spring Palace Lord, Zhen Yu, and Fu Ling ambush the immortals to uncover the stone’s whereabouts but fail. Fu Ling vows to continue stirring conflict in Ning’an City, pitting the immortals against Fan Yue. Determined, Bai Shuo returns to the Unfettered Tower, ready to test Fan Yue’s true identity.
